Chapter Eleven

Gavin walked into the room that held his mate. Sebastian lay curled on the bed in a hospital gown, with the back open. His dragon roared at the idea of anyone else seeing his mate. He did notice the black leather peeking through the scratchy gown, pleased that his mate liked the gift. He wanted to kick himself for not being there to put it on his sweet Sebastian.

Before Gavin could get the door closed, Sam pushed in. “I know what you are,” Sam whispered, his voice harsh. “You can’t have him.”

Sebastian gave a small moan and rolled to the other side. The sight of his mate’s pale skin was a punch to his gut. Sebastian lay there, curled in the fetal position, shaking as sweat poured off his skin. Dark circles stood out under his eyes. How could he look so awful so quickly? Gavin had seen his mate’s beautiful body last night.

“Get out!” Gavin roared at Sam. Sam proclaimed to know what he was so he could deal with his anger as well. Ben pushed to Gavin’s other side. Sam finally saw reason and took a step back.

“I’ve called Ed in,” Sam said as he stormed from the room. “Don’t you dare implant in him!”

“Shit. Find out what he knows,” Gavin ordered Ben. Ben quickly left the room to search for Sam, take him out if needed. This had bad news written all over it. Only three kinds of people knew about shifters. Hunters, mates, and shifters. Sam sounded like the first option, the deadliest option.

Gavin went to the emergency room bed and quickly pulled Sebastian into his arms. Gregory stood in the doorway, waiting to take them to the private room he had arranged. It wasn’t the exact place he wanted to mate with Sebastian, but Gregory seemed to know how to help their egg, how to help Sebastian. It was a rare time when Gavin would allow someone else to dictate something so important, important to himself and his clan. This was their future.

“Gavin,” Sebastian whispered before curling into his chest.

“I gave him a mild sedative. It should wear off in a few hours. Oh and I got you this.” Gregory held up a tube of medical lubricant, smirking at Gavin. “Also, he screamed when I asked him to take the corset off. You’ll need to get it off of him a few days after the egg attaches, at most.”
